Trip Tips
The Turtles have traveled far and wide. Here is some collected wisdom for dive trips.
- Bring a length of line for hanging dive gear
- Carry enough money for the day and leave the rest in a safe.
- Stash keys and cash in a waterproof box and clip to your BC while diving
- Consider two wallets one to throw to the thieves and one buried deep in your pocket
- Fill 2 litre pop bottles and leave them in the sun to warm up for refreshing post dive
showers
- Bring a piece of carpet to stand on while changing. Throw it away at the end of the
trip.
- Pack light. They will probably have stores where you are going
- Pack regs, mask and computers as carry on baggage on the flight to the dive destination.
On the way back you can put them in with your dive gear.
- Never pack you dive knife in your carry on baggage. Believe it or not, people still try
to sneak their knives through the x-ray machine. Don't bother trying, you'll just
embarrass yourself.
- Bring spare batteries and film. Both are expensive at most destinations.
- Carry medication with you. Lost baggage can become a real problem if your lithium
dosen't arrive.
- Zip tie/wire tie handles of dive bags together. Baggage handlers get free stuff from
split bags.
- Zip tie/wire tie zipper pulls together to prevent casual theft or tampering
- Shower with your dirty clothes and hang to dry.
- Mesh bags are great for quick post dive rinsing. Dunk the whole bag and go.
